Dear Colleagues,
It is my pleasure to invite you to Hydrogen Days 2027, now in its 17th edition. This edition, identically to all previous ones, provides to researchers, industry representatives, and policymakers a platform to address the current development, trends and obstacles in implementation of hydrogen technologies on various levels.
For this year we have chosen the motto
Impact of European Policy on National Projects
Focus is thus, once again, on European regulatory frameworks and how it translates into concrete local implementation projects and industry plans.
As European directives, most notably the Renewable Energy Directive (RED), are transposed into national legislation. They are establishing defined market rules and quotas for renewable hydrogen. Across Europe, this regulatory push has already resulted in significant scale-up, evidenced by over 500 MW of electrolyzer capacity installed in 2025 and multi-hundred-megawatt projects now entering operation. This concerns particularly the petrochemistry sector.
However, moving from EU-level targets to concrete project execution remains complex. In the Czech Republic, as well as in the broader CEE region, national project deployment faces specific constraints. These include mainly limited availability of renewable electricity, or difficulty navigating stringent renewable hydrogen production rules, and high technology costs. The ultimate success of European policy depends on how effectively these frameworks help to solve local market realities.
Hydrogen Days 2027 aims to evaluate these dynamics through collaborative dialogue where every participant group gains direct value:
- For our European guests: An opportunity to explore CEE’s industrial landscape, connect with regional stakeholders, and engage with top-tier Czech scientific talent solving key technological bottlenecks.
- For our regional community: A direct gateway to European best practices, helping us avoid early-stage pitfalls, adapt proven solutions to our local context, and accelerate commercial adoption.
- For researchers and innovators: A platform bridging high-level science with market reality, targeting critical challenges like technology cost, system efficiency, and stack durability.
We warmly invite project developers, industrial operators, researchers, and policymakers to join us in Prague in March 2027 to examine how European policy can best support viable national projects, to get an information on recent technological progress, to meet your peers and to build the networks in the field of hydrogen technologies.
